Virus - A little batch of file that can do quite severe harm to your computer. I myself had an encounter with one of the most powerful and dangerous viruses in the world and only then understood why it is important to prevent your computer from being infected with viruses. Many of the people I know do not have proper protection in their system and get malware and spyware very easily which become a big threat after some time with people having to format their HDD.
This is what I learned after my experience of dealing with viruses, malware, spyware, trojan horses and bots. This is my method to remove potentially harmful viruses and I'm hopeful that it will work 95% of the time.
1.Boot your computer in Safe-Mode.
2.Download SUPER Anti-Spyware, MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, Combofix, Vundofix to your computer. All of them are free (trial versions) and extremely useful while dealing with viruses.
3.First take a Memory Scan and then a Full Scan with the SUPER Anti-Spyware software. Then use MalwareBytes Anti-Malware to remove malware from your computer. With these two steps you should be virus free.
4.(Optional) But in case you are not then use Combofix and Vundofix for removal of extremely smart and sticky viruses.
I have tried this method for many of my friends and it worked every time. :)
After you're completely virus-free, I suggest you to download Kaspersky Internet Security 2012. Believe me, I have tried many anti-virus softwares and this one is the best IMO. You can get the trial version for free and then purchase it after using the trial. :)
And then finally, download Tune Up Utilities. It is a great software to optimize the performance of your PC and fix errors in your computer that might have been caused by the virus.
And that is it, I hope this works for every person that tries this. :)
NOTE: If you are not able to boot your computer, then get a new HDD with Windows installed and the boot it with that. If you have a spare HDD then it's great. Also, even if you think your PC is completely clean and virus free just do a quick scan with Kaspersky, SUPER Anti-Spyware and MalwareBytes once a week or a month. Also don't enable Real-TIme protection in SUPER Anti-Spyware as it might interfere with Kaspersky.
I now have completely clean and virus-free computer since 2 years. :) If you follow these steps and regularly optimize your PC and regularly run scans then you will never get any virus, you can take my word for it that's for sure.
